Total Recall : Resurgence.
I’m “rediscovering” certain kinds of industrial noise I haven’t listened to in a very long time. I frown at that, in general: the getting in a rut, with anything. With music it seems pretty easy, you find a genre you like, you inhale every single artist you can that emanates the sound you enjoy or respond to. There are so many subsets of Industrial I wouldn’t even know where to start: Electronica, Synthpop, Experimental/Ambient, Aggrotech, Noise, EBM, and those are the simple categories. The “common” containers for a wide variety of artists. My point, without rambling, I like my Skinny Puppy, old, crunchy, reliable. I could listen to Suicide Commando every day, for hours even, I never tire of really good music.
But, there’s more out there, and I’m finding it, and surprisingly, loving it. I can’t stand the Beatles. I’ve said it. Hate them, hate hearing them, over and over again on the blip.fm, radio, people’s cars driving around at school. HATE them.
Give me noise, layered thick, deep reverberating noise and I’m a happy robot-thing.
